Education
At Dynamic, we believe that providing you education regarding your injury is essential. Understanding your body and your injury / dysfunction is an essential part of your rehabilitation process. When you come for physiotherapy, we will educate you on the nature of your symptoms or injury and the underlying causes. We will identify and communicate things you can to do to assist with your recovery, and provide details as to what to avoid. We will also do our best to provide you with a reasonable prognosis. All your questions are important ones, so we will take the time to answer them to the best of our professional abilities.
Exercise Prescription
We strongly believe that the cornerstone to physiotherapy is maximizing the quantity and quality of your movement. As such, exercise will be a large component of your care. By providing you with comprehensive instructions on proper movement / biomechanics, and prescribing a personalized exercise program, you will become an active participant in your own recovery, both within the clinic and at home between treatments. Our goal is always to help you attain optimal physical function.
Manual Therapy
Our therapy team has training in various hands-on manual therapy techniques that aim to manipulate and mobilize your joints and overlying soft tissues to encourage biomechanically correct and efficient movement patterns. In combination with proper exercise prescription, manual therapy techniques are an effective modality in aiding recovery and restoring normal function.
Electrotherapy
Various therapeutic modalities can be provided in your physiotherapy session to help facilitate optimal tissue health and mobility. Ultrasound, Transcutaneous Electrical Stimulation (TENS), Interferential Current (IFC), and Neuromuscular Stimulation (NMES) are examples of some of the more commonly used modalities.
Acupuncture
All of our present physiotherapists have some training in acupuncture and may suggest it as a treatment option in combination with other modes of treatment. Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to treat dysfunction in the body and involves needling specific points along meridian pathways. This modality uses needles, lasers or TENS to stimulate the nervous system, which influences the body’s pain system, and stimulates tissue healing in the body.
Bracing
Although our approach is to avoid dependence on braces whenever possible, when a brace is required or deemed to be beneficial, we can provide advice to ensure you receive the proper brace and size, and give you instruction on how to use it appropriately. We have a large number of splints and braces readily available on site and can quickly order in models we do not stock through various suppliers. Although we are not able to bill MB Health for braces, many extended health insurance plans have coverage for them. Our support staff would be happy to check your coverage and assist with submitting any claims.
